So pleased with my boy today. We managed 66% in prelim 1 (HC so not placed) and 69% in Prelim 18 for 2nd - I only wanted to beat the 57% we got when we last did P18 here 😀❤️🐴 I also drove a Horsebox with a horse in it so another achievement for me too! Thank you to my Mum Catherine Watts for support and also Cate Hooper and everyone at Cow City for another lovely event 😊

Very happy today with the boy 66% in Prelim 1 (entered HC so no placing) & 69% in Prelim 18 to earn second place. I also managed to sort out borrowing a lorry for today and drove it with Matti in - go me 😊

Took Matti in the school today to see how he felt with his new shoes. He varied from being very sluggish to feeling fab to throwing his head in the air and rushing off - the rushing off part is normal for him, the sluggish part not so much. So I'm back to worrying again! Will up his feed to see if that is why he is lacking energy, if that doesn't help then it will be saddle/physio/ vet route to see if it is something physical.

Amber wants to know the number for WHW as apparently I am horrible and cruel by making her actually do proper work for half hour in the school. She started off quite stiff and choppy, so I had zero rein contact and just asked her to go forward. Once she was in a nice steady tempo I was then able to start working on flexion- she has a habit of falling in or out through the shoulder depending on where she is in regards to the gate. She can even be like this in straight lines, so I asked for a few strides with inside or outside bend to get her to loosen up. By the end of the session, she was much better and was stretching down to take the contact. She also had a full set of shoes on too and apart from a couple of 'gerroff' moments she was good

Someone wanted a lay in this morning 😉 She had a session loose schooling in the round pen, then had her hooves trimmed this afternoon and was very well behaved (put the other two to shame!)

Matti was a very good boy on our hack today. He only wanted to canter at one point when I didn't so he just did such an extended trot I could see his flicky toes!

Took these two for a quick hack this evening. Amber was quite sharp and spooky to start. Old me would have had an anxiety attack along the lines of ohmygodi'mgoingtodieicannotdealwiththisiamaterribleridderandowner, but I didn't. Instead I thought about why she was on her toes and then it clicked that they had been in for a few hours today (living out since beginning of the month). This does not sound like much but it is a HUGE change for me. Amber did settle shortly after this and we had a good hack - we even did some trotting!

Henley also got a spin in the round pen yesterday. She has picked up my cues for changing direction and pace now, clever pony! Now just need to work on her relaxing some more.

Matti thought that poles on the ground were the most exciting thing ever and reverted into SuperTwonk 😂 He did make me laugh and did start to settle, unfortunately a lorry load of chippings arrived before we could attempt the 6" cross pole. We finished with a short hack instead, he was very good. Had a nice canter then straight back into walk on the buckle 😃
