Academic Me and Healthy Me: Diploma in Weight Loss

I thought that I would give this course a go to hopefully gain some pointers in how to lose weight and get more healthy. I have done the first three sessions now and have found it very interesting so far. However, having to weigh and measure myself, then send the information to my tutor each week is slightly scary!

Healthy Me: Accountability

As part of my Diploma in Weight Loss, I have to submit my goals and measurements each week. I am going to be brave and post them here too. What are your goals? Cut down on carbs (potatoes, white bread, white rice, white pasta), replace with vegetables or wholemeal alternatives. Height: 164 cm Weight: 62.2 KG BMI: 22 Hips: 40 Waist: 34 Hip To Waist Ratio: 0.85 Average (just about)

Entertaining Me: The Blood Sugar Diet

While I am not overweight (just heavier than I have even been used to), I got this book last June as I thought it would give me some useful ideas on how to cut down on eating sugar and carbs. Apart from flicking though it a few times, this has been the first time I have actually started to read it. Some scary bits aside, I have found it to be useful so far and am just getting into the part that describes the 8 week plan to follow of meals and exercise. The goal of the diet is to eat 800 or less calories a day, and provides many links to studies that show that low fat diets are not necessarily good for you (mainly because of eating more carbs) and are hard to stick to. The book also states that loosing weight quickly is better and is less likely to stay off. Although I would not follow the diet without doing some of my own research first, I do think that there are a few points that I would be able to start putting into practice straight away as they are fairly straight forward (and ...

Entertaining Me: The Happiness Project - Gretchen Rubin

This book was featured on YOUapp, and it sounded interesting so I though I would give it a go. I have only read a couple of chapters so far but am finding it easy to read. Although I was expecting it to be a 'how to guide', it follows the author as she completes her own Happiness Project. However, it has already provided inspiration for a few things I want to incorperate in my own life. I did find it amusing that one of her first steps was decluttering and organsing her apartment, something that I have recently started doing with gusto. Perhaps this is a case of when the student is ready, the master will appear... I'll post a bit more about the book once I have gotten halfway through, then again once I have finished.

Houseproud Me: Declutter time

I do not think I have already covered this, apologies if so. I have been rather busy having a good declutter/ sort/ tidy of the house over the past few weeks. So far 10 bags of clothes (from both of us, not just me) have gone to charity, six bags of 'stuff' chucked (along with normal rubbish - I'm not that much of a hoarder, honest) and that was only the bedroom! I have also been trying to do a little bit each evening like going through the cutlery draw, each food cupboard, the cupboard under the stairs has been done, coats and shoes organised, all of the washing has been caught up with and the shed has been tackled too. There is still a lot to go, or at least it feels like it, but but doing a little bit at a time it does not seem quite so daunting! We also managed to pick up a new TV stand with storage space for the bargain price of £30 from eBay (should be £125 in IKEA) and have been to IKEA a couple of times to get some ideas and also pick up an extra shelf unit,...

Happy Me and Healthy Me: Medication

Well, it's official, I can now start weaning myself off of my anxiety medication. Apparently going cold turkey is really bad for you (as if I'd ever do that *looks shifty*), so my doctor has given me a plan to follow. I have also gotten my hayfever tablets for the summer - for once I was proactive and got them before I started suffering with it. Hopefully the reduction in medication should mean it will be easier for me to lose some weight, although it does mean that I have to figure out another way of getting to sleep each night!

Academic Me: The Final Assignments

So I finally bit the bullet and did the final assignments for Social Media Marketing and Digital Marketing. I am rather chuffed that I managed to get a distinction in both, especially considering how tough they both were. Next I am going to be starting on the Advanced Digital Marketing Diploma on the 11th.
